happytaxi operates an intermediary taxi booking platform based in Barcelona, Spain. We provide software that allows passengers to submit ride requests to independent taxi operators. For the purpose of this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to the happytaxi operator. Contact us at: privacy@happytaxi.net
2. Nature of this service
happytaxi is a software intermediary only. We do not employ drivers, own vehicles, or directly provide any transportation service. Key points:
- A booking submitted through this platform is a request, not a guaranteed reservation. Fulfilment is at the discretion of the independent taxi operator who receives the request.
- If you have questions about whether your ride will be fulfilled, please contact the coordinator directly at hello@happytaxi.net.
- happytaxi makes no warranty, express or implied, that a driver will be available, that the ride will depart on time, or that the service will meet any particular standard.
3. Payments
Using this booking platform is completely free of charge. happytaxi does not collect, process, or handle any ride payments. All payments for transportation services are made directly between the passenger and the fulfilling taxi operator. happytaxi is not a party to any financial transaction arising from a booking.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, happytaxi shall not be liable for:
- Cancellation, non-fulfilment, or late fulfilment of a booking by an operator
- Any conduct, actions, or omissions of the fulfilling taxi operator or driver
- Loss, injury, damage, or delay arising from or in connection with a ride
- Disputes between a passenger and a taxi operator regarding fare, service quality, or conduct
- Interruption or unavailability of the platform for any reason
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
5. What data we collect
When you register and make a booking, we collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Pickup and drop-off locations
- Pickup date and time
- Number of passengers
- IP address and browser information (for security and legal compliance)
- Date, time, and text of your GDPR consent
6. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) — we need your data to forward your taxi booking request to the operator. For marketing communications (if any), we rely on your explicit consent under Article 6(1)(a).
7. How we use your data
- To forward your taxi booking request to our coordinator via SMS
- To send you an email confirmation once your booking is approved by the coordinator
- To comply with legal obligations
8. Data retention
We retain booking records for 3 years from the date of booking, in compliance with Spanish commercial law. After this period, personal data is automatically anonymised. Account data is retained while your account is active and for 12 months after deletion.
9. Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction — limit how we process your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing

10. Cookies
We use only strictly necessary session cookies for authentication purposes. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies without your explicit consent.

12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance.
